Electrical & Controls Systems Engineer

Marietta, GAFull-time (Onsite)

The Mission

At 4Earth, we are building advanced resource recovery technology that plugs seamlessly into factories and mission-critical infrastructure to turn waste into value. Our modular water treatment systems need electrical and controls architecture that makes individual skids operate as one reliable, intelligent product.

We are looking for a Lead Electrical & Controls Systems Engineer who takes personal responsibility for every connection—from incoming power to the last sensor signal. We want a builder who designs the panel, writes the logic, works alongside the assembly team, and troubleshoots the physical system. You will lead through technical judgment, hands-on execution, and ownership of the finished product.

The Role

You will own our electrical and controls stack A–Z. This is a role at the intersection of Industrial Automation, Power Distribution, and Product Engineering. You will set the technical direction and stay close to implementation. You will be:

  • Designing electrical and controls architecture for modular skids and containerized treatment systems.
  • Developing control panels, electrical drawings, PLC programs, and system interconnections.
  • Working with suppliers and our engineering team to turn designs into clean, repeatable products.
  • Establishing standards that make systems easier to build, test, commission, and service.

What You Will Build

The Power Architecture
Design power distribution for 480V, 120/208V, and 24VDC systems. Specify protection, grounding, isolation, and interfaces for pumps, drives, instruments, and control equipment.
The Control Panel
Own panel layouts, schematics, wiring diagrams, I/O schedules, and electrical BOMs. Work with suppliers to select and validate components that are reliable, available, cost-effective, and practical to assemble.
The Automation Stack
Develop PLC logic, HMI interfaces, operating sequences, alarms, and interlocks. Translate process requirements into controls that handle normal operation, startup, shutdown, and fault recovery.
The Connected Product
Engineer power and controls connections between skids and containers. Own cable selection, connectors, routing, segregation, labeling, and industrial networking so the delivered system is organized, robust, and serviceable.

The DNA We Are Looking For

Experimentalist First
You wire, program, power up, and test. You can explain systems you personally built, the problems you encountered, and how you resolved them.
First-Principles Thinker
You understand why a drive trips, a signal becomes noisy, or a network loses communication. You form a hypothesis, measure what matters, and verify the fix.
Extreme Ownership
You take responsibility for the complete stack. You follow problems across hardware, software, suppliers, and installation until the system performs reliably.
Cross-Disciplinary Leader
You translate process intent into electrical and automation decisions. You work closely with mechanical engineers, process engineers, fabricators, and operators, and raise the quality of the team’s work through clear standards and practical guidance.

Critical Requirements

Electrical & Panel Design
Practical experience with 480V, 120/208V, and 24VDC systems, including control panel design, electrical drawings, component sizing, circuit protection, grounding, and safe troubleshooting.
PLC & Automation
Hands-on PLC programming experience and the ability to develop structured, maintainable control logic. Siemens experience is preferred; experience with Beckhoff or comparable industrial platforms is valuable.
Industrial Communications
Familiarity with OPC UA, PROFINET, and EtherNet/IP, including device integration, network configuration, and communication troubleshooting.
System Integration & Wiring
Experience designing power and controls interconnections across equipment assemblies. You understand cable routing, power and signal segregation, termination, labeling, and access for assembly and maintenance.
Technical & Supplier Ownership
Demonstrated ability to independently own electrical and controls design, guide implementation, and work directly with suppliers on component selection and substitutions. You can make sound tradeoffs across performance, safety, cost, and lead time.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience delivering systems from project development and design through commissioning and performance validation.
  • Familiarity with IO-Link devices and integration.
  • Experience interfacing with customers during requirements definition, site installation, troubleshooting, or operator training.
  • Experience with modular water treatment equipment or similar industrial process systems.

Why 4Earth?

We are doing the hard thing—re-engineering the water cycle to secure the future. Here, you will shape the architecture, build alongside the team, and see your work operate in the field. If you want to lead by building technology that turns industrial waste into lasting value, join us.
